We are seeking an energized forward- thinking physician to become the Vice Chair of Academics for the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine. The Vice Chair is a member of Prisma Health Medical Group and the University of South Carolina Floyd School of Medicine and is a senior leader on the Department’s executive committee. At the system level, the Vice Chair of Academics helps establish and achieve annual and multi-year goals regarding academic and research. At the Department level, the Vice Chair leads academic operations including oversight of undergraduate medical education (UME), graduate medical education (GME), promotion and development of faculty and support for research activities.

Accountabilities:

• Establishes short term and long-term academic priorities that support departmental and system goals
• Supervise GME and non GME program directors and research director
• Oversees faculty academic appointment and promotion processes
• Represents the Department on Academic Council and/or in academic activities as requested by the Department Chair
• Creates and monitors faculty academic development programs
• Develops and manages academic services budget
• Assure compliance with relevant research and educational regulations and standards
• Maintains a clinical practice to assure clinical competence, provide direct observations and provide professional credibility.

Requirements:

• MD or DO with Board Certification in Family Medicine
• 5+ years of leadership experience in healthcare and clinical practice
